Whenever I go shopping, I like to get the best deal possible with coupons. Using the method below, you can have coupons sent directly to your email address without cluttering up your Inbox. In fact, if you follow the steps correctly, you shouldn't even see any coupons until you're ready to go shopping.
To accomplish this task, I use one of Google's great products: Gmail. A Gmail address is free and easy to set up.
1. Sign Up
Head on over to the websites of your favorite merchant. Look for a link that says something like "Newsletter," "Coupons" or "Get Sales Alerts." Sign up by inputting your Gmail address.
2. Sign In
Sign in to your Gmail account and click on "Settings" then "Labels." Scroll down to the text box that reads "Create a New Label," type in "Coupons" and click "Create."
3. Check for Email
Go back to your main Gmail screen by clicking "Inbox." By this time you've probably received an email from the merchant. Click the little box next to that email. A check mark should appear and the subject line will turn yellow.
4. Filter
Click on "More Actions" then click "Filter Messages Like These." A box will appear with the "From" line already filled out. Click "Next Step."
5. Check Mark
On the new box that appears, check mark "Skip the Inbox," "Mark as read" and "Apply the Label." From the drop down menu, select the "Coupons" label you made back in step two.
6. Almost Done
Finally, click "Create Filter."
7. All Done
You'll now receive emails from your favorite stores and they'll automatically be filed away under the Gmail label "coupons." When you're ready to shop, just look for that label on the left side of your Gmail page. From there, you can see all the coupons and sales available.
