Frugalistas look upon double coupons as the mother load of savings. True coupon addicts know some stores will double the face value of regular grocery coupons. That means a 35-cents-off coupon is worth 70 cents at stores that allow shoppers to double up.
Savvy shoppers can save up to 100 percent on the cost of an item. For example, when a bottle of shampoo normally priced at $3.50 is on sale for $2, you can double a $1 manufacturer coupon and pay zip, nada, zilch for the product.
Times and days when you can use double coupons vary from store to store within chains, so check before you make an extra trip. Some stores limit the number of coupons you can use per visit and others require shoppers join their "member" program before using double coupons.

Lowe's Foods in Apex, North Carolina also doubles their coupons the same as Harris Teeter - up to 98 cents. Right now the Harris Teeter here in Apex is doing their SUPER DOUBLE deals which means until next Tuesday, they are double all coupons up to and including $2. I walked out paying $10 for $62 worth of stuff because of the high value coupons I was able to find, their in store deals and the double coupons. Now is a time to shop here if you are in the area. Last day is Tuesday, Sept 18, 2012.

This is sad. Greed is consuming all these little petty stores. It's pathetic. That's why the economy is in bad shape; the rich take everything the poor have, even if it's almost nothing. They should be thankful anyone would even purchase their products.

It is sad to know Californian's do not have the advantages of other states because we are profiled as the most expensive place to live, aside from New York. California is suffering, just as every other state. I'm not Paris Hilton, so why the heck should I suffer?

Super Duper in Honesdale, Penn., will double coupons as high as $1, but no higher. The problem with Super Duper is they just started limiting you to three of the same coupons in one visit. I used to go in there and get 30 bottles of salad dressing for free, but no more. They said they instituted the policy when a customer bought 200 bottles of Pert shampoo and the clearinghouse refused to honor them. I don't know why.

If a store would double coupons, I think that would be the main store in California. We need one here very badly. The cost of living is so high, I don't see how some family even make it. So please get a double coupons store here. California needs you.

I too am annoyed about California's lack of double couponing. A co-worker of mine came up with a theory about the reasoning. Since California is broke and so far in debt, maybe the state has outlawed double couponing. The possible concern may be who is paying the taxes on those multiple items? I thought the manufacturers still ended up paying, but maybe those taxes don't get paid at all. What do you think?

I live in Southern Mississippi and the only places I have found that double coupons are Fred's and Krogers. Fred's only doubles one day a week. I just found out there was even a Kroger's here, so I will try them out this week.

I live in Southern California on the borderline of Riverside and San Diego Counties. Our two local Ralph's and Vons will double coupons up to 99 cents. They'll only double a 75-cent coupon up to $1, so you wont get anything higher than $1 on 50-cent coupons. Also, Ralph (Chino) and Vons (Chino and San Diego) will only double the first coupon.

I live in California and don't think we even get double coupon days anymore. I don't understand why, since everything here is more expensive and the stores get reimbursed anyway. It's not like the store loses money. I have nine grocery stores near where i live, plus a Walmart and a Costco. All are in very convenient locations but, in order to save a little money, I have to go to almost all of them every week. That's very time consuming.

Also, as far as Barbara's comment..most extreme couponers do donate some of their stockpile to charities and food banks. Some do it at the beginning when they first get the items and some do it closers to when the items are about to expire but most if not all extreme couponers I've had contact with do donate some of the items. I personally have been donating to local food banks and making care packages for the military troops and their families since the very first day I started couponing.

I live in North East Ohio and fortunately most if not all of the stores in this area double coupons. Giant Eagle, Acme, Buehler.. they all double coupons now. I know most of you think that the extreme couponing show is causing stores to stop doubling but in my area just the opposite is true. Giant Eagle and Buehlers up until about 6 months ago would not double coupons but now they changed their policies. I tend to think its due to the show and the fact the customers were going to the other retailers who would double. So they show does have some positives to it. I've been extreme couponing for almost 16 yrs now, I started back when we were a military family and have continue even though we got out of the military 4 yrs ago. The one negative I have seen since the tv show started is the fact that people new to extreme couponing do not follow extreme couponing ettiquette. They go and clear out the shelves which is not fair to other shoppers who only want to buy 1,2 or 3 of the sale item. I always pre-order if I am going to get over 30 of the same item and people new to extreme couponing should be considerate of others and follow some system of pre-ordering for large purchases.

Does anyone know of any Washington State stores that double? I live in the Everett to Bellingham area.
Posted June 27, 2011 by claudeena
I live in South Mississippi and cannot find any store that doubles coupons. I was told that Fred's does it but, where is Freds? I think the Extreme Coupon show is a crock as well. I like to save money just like the next person. But, I think some of those extreme couponers are wasting some of those products unless they give it away. Come on, they can't possibly use that much stuff before it ruions.

I live in Mobile, AL and no where here doubles coupons(at least that I am aware of). I am just getting started this past month with couponing and have gotten organized, etc. Can anyone shed any more light upon this situation on couponing PERIOD? Thanks!
Posted June 16, 2011 by Jerilyn
note how none of the people profiled on the extreme couponing TLC show are from california...why? because we cannot locate any store which doubles. my ralphs only doubles on a few items and it's like diapers....
Posted June 15, 2011 by disgusted
Watching Extreme Couponing....what a crock! I live in California and there is no doubling anywhere here. That's how they manage to shave off $550.00 their shopping list. It's not rocket science,..you just need a grocery store that will offer doubling. The show forgets to emphasize that!

Try living in NH...there is NO store that doubles coupons, and hardly any in ME. The northeast totally gets the coupon-shaft! =(

People have been extreme coupon shopping for years and years. I started in 1980 and have not stopped. Someone mentioned they thought store were tired of giving away free products, that is in no way the case. Stores NEVER give away free products, not in the case of coupon shopping, or when there is a bad or damaged item that is returned or whatever the case maybe, stores are the middleman for the vendor who makes the product, coupons are made available by the company that produces the product unless it is a store coupon and even then there is an agreement between the store and the vendor. When you get a coupon that says do not double that means nothing really, it means the vendor will not pay double on the coupon but if the store has a doubling policy they are the ones who absorb the additional discount, but believe it, they got a deal on the product to begin with. In the last few years coupons values have gone up, most coupons are worth a dollar, many stored do not double dollar coupons regularly, but if one store does in a region then others do too, it the competition to get shoppers in the stores so rest assure, coupon shopping will never go away, and extreme coupon shopping will not make stores discontinue the coupon promos just because they are giving away free items, they actually make more money per item the more coupons they accept. Go to your local grocer and ask the manager or call the regional office and talk to them to get a better understanding of your local stores policies, they will be happy to give you all the info you want so you too can become a much more effective shopper. My problem is there is no store within a 75 mile radius that doubles dollar coupons, but I will find one and start saving big once again.

I called Vons & Ralphs, they're no longer honor double coupon. 5/22/11

I live in Southern California and have been searching for stores that double. I have found that Ralphs does still double coupons that are up to $.50 and will match up to $1 coupons between $.50 and $.99. Example a coupon of $.40 will be $.80 and coupon of $.60 will be $1. I've found that many Ralphs in San Diego are no longer doubling but call your Ralphs store and ask.

Nowhere in CA doubles coupons, but there is a loophole. By uploading ecoupons on your card and printing out the same one, you can double it, and stack them. They just usually always have a limit of 1 coupon per item or you have to buy 2 to use the coupon. I am seriously thinking of moving!

I think a lot of these stores are wising up to the "extreme coupon" trend. They don't want to give away so many items for free. I just recently found out about double coupons. I wish I'd known sooner, it would have saved my family a ton of money.
