I Love Coupon Month

As if September weren't fabulous enough already with the aroma of freshly sharpened number two pencils and the first nip of cool air, it just got even better. September is National Coupon Month! Of course Coupon Sherpa is bonkers for bargains, but according to I Love Coupon Month everyone else is jumping on the bandwagon, snipping coupons in record numbers.

Dedicated to celebrating National Coupon Month, the folks at I Love Coupon Month have a wealth of information geared toward all levels of coupon clippers. Among the features of the National Coupon Month site include:

  • Stats on coupon trends. Did you know that over 3.3 billion packaged goods coupons were redeemed last year? And that folks who make big bucks (700K< per year) account for 41% of all coupon enthusiasts?
  • A new coupon tip each day of September. From learning how to assemble a savings binder to learning the secrets of the "cartload of groceries for $8.75" shoppers, seasoned and green deal seekers have a wealth of information from which to draw.
  • Safe and secure coupon resource list. Take advantage of secure, tested sites selected by National Coupon Month's I Love Coupon Month to avoid trashing your inbox.
  • Bargain bloggers resource list. If you're like me, you read a great blogger tip...and then completely forget the author's site two weeks later. I Love Coupon Month has a "best of" compilation of top frugal fanatics to limit your Googling.
  • General helps for folks who want to save money. I learned several fun coupon acronyms and facts I plan on showing off—DND (Do Not Double), EXT (Excludes Trial Sizes), and POP (Proof of Purchase). Legal jargon at it's thriftiest! Plus the "History of Coupons" section reveals some surprises about who invented these slips of free money.

Make this September the beginning of a banner bargain year by celebrating National Coupon Month! Jump on board to cut your grocery bill or learn how to maximize online purchases with coupon codes.

I wanted to inform everyone about a new application that tracks how much you have saved with coupons. The application allows you to enter your coupon savings (The store, amount saved, and date are entered). You can generate a report from your coupon savings and post it to your Facebook wall or blog. I am an avid coupon user, but I was surprised that in less then 3 months I managed a savings of over $667.60 using coupons. Enough savings for a recent trip to Hawaii! The application has turned in a competition between my husband and I to see how much we can save using coupons this year. US and Canadian stores are built in but any store is available to be entered. The free application is available at http://www.groceryalerts.ca/coupontracker
