Are you stuck in a grocery store rut...always hitting the same supermarket without comparing prices? Surely there can't be that much difference between the big guys, can there?

I hit the street to compare prices for 71 products at Walmart, Target, Sam's Warehouse, Kroger and your friendly Seven/11. Guess what I learned. (No really, guess.) Surprise! Prices varied greatly, and not always in the way you would think.

According to this, buying a 12 ounce bottle of apple juice at 7-11 would cost over $10. I call bullpoop.

Also, you need to filter the cost of membership to Sam's Club or Costco when calculating prices. These stores are not free to shop at. I've also heard good things about Wynco and 7/11 isn't even in the same category. It should also be known that Sam's Club will honor coupons whereas Costco does not other than the monthly manufacturer's coupons. Also, Walmart will match prices, so that pretty much makes Walmart reign supreme. I don't think they match Costo or their subsidiary Sam's Club due to Sam's club offering warehouse items and bulk sizes. The bummer about this is that in order to save the most money, one has to go to Walmart and I don't know about anyone else, but I dread going to Walmart and will sacrifice slightly higher prices on food to avoid it. Their meat is also not as high grade as Costco. I will shop at Walmart for hair color and other misc. items as needed, but it ends there. I think a cost comparison between Sam's Club and Costco should be done.

I don't know who wrote this article but they did nit read it before posting it. 26. Top Sirloin Steak - Per Pound Walmart - $4.98 Target - $0.99 something's wrong here sugar .32 per oz = $5.12 per lb. Special k @ .99 per oz in walmart that is $16.83 per 17 oz box. these are just the ones that are glaring at me.

I shop at Sam's and Wal*Mart all the time. I was in Target last week and the prices were way above Wal*Mart. I was in a Kroger about 4 months ago and found there prices way out there. Also, when I shop at Sam's most of the items are name brands not generic. Although their members' mark brand is generally very good. It seems your survey did show Sam's had the better value most of the time. thanks for th einfo.
